Onwords to Freedom

The recently published book "Towards Freedom" contains the printed version of the speech delivered by Maryam Rajavi at the great gathering of the Iranian Resistance in Villepinte, near Paris, on June 22, 2013.

In her address to the gathering, Madame Rajavi offered her take on the Iranian regime's sham presidential elections of June 2013, and said: "The regime in its entirety came out weaker after the election and moved a step closer to being overthrown. Khamenei rejected Hashemi Rafsanjani, but in doing so, owing to the regime's internal balance, he failed to engineer the election such that it could secure the victory of one of his favorite candidates."

She added: "Afraid that this sham election would turn into a noose around the regime's neck, Khamenei hastily wrapped it up and gave up on the idea of a run-off. Otherwise, gatherings that had taken place on the eve of the election with the chants of "free all political prisoners" would have quickly turned into widespread uprisings."

Mrs. Rajavi also underscored the spread of fundamentalism and terrorism by the regime to all over the world, warning about the consequences of continuing the policy of appeasement toward Tehran and saying: "If you do not want to witness the spread of war and bloodshed in the region, there is no other option but to overthrow this regime."

At the conclusion of her remarks, Madame Rajavi presented the Iranian Resistance's Ten-Point Plan for the Future of Iran, calling for a pluralist government built on the separation of church and state and complete gender equality, as well as a non-nuclear Iran.

The book also contains the translation of the speech, which was originally delivered in Farsi, into English, French and Arabic. "Towards Freedom" also includes a series of pictures from the great gathering.
