protesters killed under torture

Riyadh "Riyadh Daily"
International community reacts strongly to arrests and crimes against Iranian protesters
Dozens of international human rights organizations from countries across the globe, including North American, Europe, the Middle East and Asia are strongly protesting the arrest and murder of those arrested during and after protests launched in Iran from December onward, according to a report obtained by Al Riyadh.
Last month, there was a huge quelling of protesters. At the end of December, the people of Iran took to the streets due to the poor economic situation resulting from the regime’s mishandling of the nation’s wealth. The protests quickly turned into anti-government demonstrations. Security forces violently suppressed the protesters, leading to at least 50 deaths and more than 8,000 protesters were arrested, according to a report by the Iranian opposition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).Reports presented by Iran Human Rights Monitoring during the month of January, coinciding with Iran's nationwide protests, refer in-depth to widespread arbitrary arrests, torture, and murder of young protesters in Iran's prisons.

In a letter delivered to U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres these entities express support for the Iranian people's legitimate protests and their basic rights and freedoms that are constantly violated by the Iranian regime.

These organizations have called on the UNSG to place in necessary efforts to save the lives of Iran's protesters and bring an end to the ongoing crackdown.

A segment of this letter reads:
Since the last days of 2017, the world has witnessed massive and courageous protests by Iranian people throughout the country against the regime ruling Iran and for the liberation and establishment of a democratically elected government. The world community has supported the demands of the people of Iran for freedom and has condemned the suppressive measures taken by the Iranian regime against its citizens.

The letter adds:
We also urge you to use your good offices at the United Nations for effective measures to release those arrested during the recent demonstrations, and imposing sanctions on officials and organs involved in killing people in Iran and exporting terrorism and extremism abroad.
Despite the vicious quelling and killings carried out by the Iranian regime against the protesters to create a climate of fear, reports obtained daily by Al Riyadh from Iran's human rights activists inside the country and abroad indicate a strong will from the Iranian people to realize freedom and regime change in Tehran.
