ARRESTED MEMBERS WORKED FOR DAWOOD


Manama : The authorities have disclosed the details of the seven members of a terrorist cell who have been arrested in a counter-terror operation. The suspected members were acting under instructions from Hussein Ali Ahmed Dawood, leader of Saraya Al Ashtar, the terror wing of Al Wafa Islamic Movement and a Bahraini fugitive living in Iran. Details of the arrested.
Hassan Maki Abas Hassan, 27
A worker with close links to Dawood and a the key suspect who was in-charge of bomb-making for Saraya Al Ashtar, including bombs seized on March 13, 2017. Hassan is suspected to be the key bomb maker who set up a warehouse to keep materials smuggled from abroad. He was also involved in the cases related to making and possessing bombs and had been involved in transporting and making bombs since 2013. He had also received training in making bombs.
Mahmood Mohammed Ali Mulla Salem Al Bahrani, 33
An Arabic teacher who trained key suspect Hassan Maki Abas in bomb-making. Hassan Maki received a bag containing a Kalashnikov and explosives from him and kept it for some time before returning it. He was arrested on arrival in Bahrain from Lebanon.
Zainab Maki Abas, 34
She is accused of hiding the bags containing explosives and the Kalashnikov belonging to her brother Hassan Maki Abas in her house in Malkiya before his arrest. She then asked her husband Ameen Habeeb Ali to move them from the house.
Ameen Habeeb Ali Jassim 32
An employee who transported the bags containing the Kalashnikov and explosives given by his wife to the sister of the key suspect in the case to hand them over to Hussain Mohammed Hussain Khamees to hide them.
Hassan Atiyah Mohammed Saleh, 37
A driver who bought bomb-making material, including metal balls and gas cylinders, several times on the instructions of Hassan Maki Abas, for carrying out blasts.
Hussain Ibrahim Mohammed Hassan Dhaif, 27
A worker recruited by Hassan Maki Abas, who received and transported bomb-making material to different areas, including Karzakan and Demistan. He also temporarily stored some material in his house.
Hussain Mohammed Hussain Khamees, 39
Adriver who hid the bags in his house in Dar Kulaib.
Two more to be arrested
Investigation is in progress to arrest two more members of the cell: Sayed Hadi Hassan Majeed Radhi, 26; and Sadiq Mohammed Abdulrasool Darweesh, 25, both drivers.
Sayed Hadi Hassan Majeed Radhi, 26, was convicted and wanted in cases of terrorism, including the use of explosives, endangering lives, attempt to murder, arson, and making and possessing bombs to carry out terrorist acts.
Sadiq Mohammed Abdulrasool Darweesh, 25, was convicted and wanted in cases of terrorism, including arson, making and possessing bombs, endangering public vehicles and vandalising communication facilities.
Al Sindhi, the wanted fugitive
Murtadha Majeed Al Sindi is a wanted fugitive believed to be living in Iran. Al Sindi, a top leader of the banned Saraya Al Ashtar, is accused of several terror plots and violent acts of assassinations of police personnel in Bahrain.
