Iran Regime Must Be Brought to Justice Over 1988 Massacre19 September 2017

Iran Focus
London, 19 Sep - The Iranian Regime is responsible for one of the most horrific crimes against humanity of the 20th Century but the international community has largely met this with silence.
In 1988, the Iranian Regime slaughtered around 30,000 political prisoners, mainly members and supporters of the leading Iranian opposition movement, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.
Yet no one has ever been brought to justice.

Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani is making a tactical shift once again. This time he is appeasing the hard-liners publicly and revealing the actual agenda of his administration after achieving the Supreme Leader’s economic objectives.
Rouhani used the UN pedestal last week to shower praise on Tehran’s theocracy. His stale slogans smack of desperation and deception.
Isolated and generally regarded as a pariah, the regime and its familiar figures try to stick to the same plot and project an image of a powerful and rational player.
Brush aside the forced rhetoric and the ugly truth reveals itself: A regime that has hanged over 3,100 people under Rouhani alone, securing the world record for the highest number of executions. Dozens of young people are among the victims, securing another record; the world’s last remaining executioner of children.

American Thinker, September 27, 2017 - The plunder of Iran's wealth by the ayatollahs, who claim to be Muslim leaders, has left almost nothing for the Iranian people. Under their rule, Iran has grown poorer and its citizens more powerless. Only a tiny rich section remains in the country, comprising mullahs and their families. Make no mistake: these rulers are rich because they have usurped the entire wealth of the rest of the country

against executions in Iran.
Earlier in September, the UN Secretary General sent the latest report of the Special Rapporteur on Iran’s human rights to the General Assembly for discussion. The August 14 report provides a detailed account of a series of serious abuses that were carried out by the Iranian authorities in the past year.
But this year's report is unique compared with previous reports because the Special Rapporteur highlights the massacre of thousands of political prisoners in 1988. The report documents the direct involvement of senior Iranian officials and current ministers in carrying out and defending these mass executions as well as the authorities’ efforts to destroy evidence of mass graves and to harass, intimidate and prosecute those who seek truth and justice.

NCRI - Asma Jahangir, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, was interviewed by Al Arabiya’s studios in the United Nations about the current situation in the country. She said that in many areas in the country there are serious violations of human rights - from rule of law, denial of due process, discriminatory laws, people being discriminated against on religious and ethnic grounds and torture.
She said that she believes the Iranian government is beginning to look into these violations, however the steps being taken to address then are “very tiny”. The government knows that there are issues that need to be addressed, but she emphasised that it cannot continue to let them drag on because awareness is rising across the world.

NCRI - Despite forty days of hunger strike of political prisoners, they face a number of serious challenges, including the lack of adequate nutrition and the lack of solutions to health issues and medical care. For more than two months, the prisoners have not received any fruit, vegetable, or legumes. The prison food is not suitable. Prisoners inevitably have to purchase the food they need from the prison shop, but the prison officials do not allow them to have access to the prison shop.
Despite the fact that all costs are on the shoulder of the prisoners and they pay for food, they are not given any meat or dairy. The only recent change was that they were allowed to purchase canned food, which alone does not provide a complete diet for the prisoners, especially the elderly.

Iraqi Shiite militias could prove the biggest problem after the ISIS
BAGHDAD (Reuters) SEPTEMBER 28, 2017 - Iraqi Shi‘ite militias illegally detained villagers near the Islamic State-held district of Hawija in northern Iraq and subjected them to torture and ill treatment, Human Rights Watch said on Thursday.
The leader of one of the militias, which are known as Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), denied the accusation and said their fighters were strictly following the law in their dealings with civilians fleeing military operations in the area.
Iraq launched an offensive on September 21 to dislodge Islamic State from Hawija, which lies west of the oil city of Kirkuk and is one of two areas of the country still under the control of the militants.
Why Trump Should Decertify the Iran DealNuclear 28 September 2017

Iran Focus
London, 28 Sep - A prominent critic of the Iranian nuclear deal recently discussed why he hopes Donald Trump will see the light and finally decertify Iran’s compliance at the October deadline.
David Ibsen, president of the United against a Nuclear Iran think tank, gave an interview to the Adriana Cohen Show on Boston Herald Radio on Wednesday September 27, in which he assessed that although it is hard to say for certain what will happen on October 15, he hopes Trump will back up his tough talk on Iran with action.
Ibsen said: “I think one hope that people have is that if the president doesn’t recertify this deal that we can put pressure on our allies and the Iranians to shore up some of the shortcomings of the agreement.

While the Islamic Republic attempts to portray having a democratic electoral system, Rouhani does not represent the overwhelming majority of the Iranian people. He represents the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the Revolutionary Guard Corps. His Cabinet consists of veteran intelligence and security officers with dark pasts. This includes his justice minister, Alireza Avai, who was involved in the massacre of thousands of political prisoners in 1988.

NCRI - United States President Donald Trump used his first address to the United Nations General Assembly to underscore that the world understands that Iranian people want regime change, adding “Iran's people are what their leaders fear the most.”“This is what causes the regime to restrict Internet access, tear down satellite dishes, shoot unarmed student protestors, and imprison political reformers,” Trump told the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.
“The Iranian government masks a corrupt dictatorship behind the false guise of a democracy. It has turned a wealthy country with a rich history and culture into an economically depleted rogue state whose chief exports are violence, bloodshed, and chaos. The longest-suffering victims of Iran's leaders are, in fact, its own people.”

Change in Iran Will Come From the People Says UN Special Rapporteur on Human RightsHuman Rights 25 September 2017

Iran Focus
London, 25 Sep - Asma Jahangir, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran, gave an interview with Al Arabiya in which she described how the human rights situation in Iran as appalling across the board and that although she welcomed the Regime’s “tiny steps” on improvement, it has not gone far enough.

She said: “In every sector, starting from rule of law, starting from defective prosecution, denial of due process, to laws that are also discriminatory to people being discriminated against on religious and ethnic grounds, to torture, there are serious human rights violations in Iran that the Iranian government is beginning to look into and is beginning to take very tiny steps-very tiny- to address them. The fact that there is a charter for rights is an acknowledgement by the government that these problems do need to be addressed but they can’t drag them on for so long because people’s awareness in every part of the world is rising. You cannot tell people that you are not violating their rights when they can read, they can see and they can listen for themselves [to how things are done elsewhere].”More
